The Way of Unity
The Seven Lands of Velspar put their faith in mystical vision and in a psychic priesthood whose mission is to draw hatred from the spirit. These priests–the Intercessors–are the balm of Velspar, but Sybilla Ladain’s father wants them eradicated. When the Intercessors discover her father’s plot, they strike first, leaving Sybilla heir to the Ladain throne. As ruler, Sybilla is merciless and effective, but she finds no peace in the burning of the slain. In time, Sybilla will have to face the people of Velspar, the generation forced to live in a world devoid of faith, and a band of rebels led by an escaped Intercessor bent on her demise.
